Family of three dies after car’s wrong turn

Three members of a family were killed and another person was seriously injured in a car crash on the Athens-Lamia national road in Metamorphosis in northern Athens early yesterday after a vehicle entered the highway against the flow of traffic. Police said that a 30-year-old Albanian man became disorientated after being involved in a minor crash on a side road and then drove his car the wrong way down the highway. He thought he had joined the road heading to Lamia but was in fact driving in the opposite lane, toward Piraeus, officers said. He crashed head-on with two other vehicles. The man was killed along with his 27-year-old wife and their 7-year-old daughter. They were not named by authorities. Also, a 45-year-old man in one of the oncoming cars was seriously injured.
