Varvakeios Market…

Shoppers at the Varvakeios Market in central Athens pick up some shrimp yesterday for the traditional seafood meal on Clean Monday. Meanwhile, Piraeus prefectural authorities confiscated about 8 tons of imported frozen seafood in Keratsini, western Athens, that was in the process of being defrosted in order to be sold in the market as fresh. Officials said that the frozen squid and octopus were being washed down with sea water in order to fool consumers.
