Specifics of the extensions
Ethniki Amyna – Doukissis Plakentias-Stavros: A 5.3-kilometer-long tunnel will be dug and two stations constructed (Doukissis Plakentias and Stavros), with three more to be built later (Holargos, Nomismatokopeio, Aghia Paraskevi). At Stavros, there will also be a depot for trains and light maintenance cars 60,000 square meters in size. Syntagma-Monastiraki: This section is the continuation of Line 3 and consists of a tunnel 1,120 meters long and one station with a platform 146 meters in length, as well as a depot for eight trains and light maintenance equipment. The delay in its construction and that of the rest of the line (which is already in operation) is due to its change of course (under Ermou instead of Mitropoleos Street in order to protect the cathedral), to extensive archaeological excavations, the difficult underground and subsoil conditions (which include 86 well shafts) and various appeals to the Council of State. Monastiraki-Aegaleo: This section foresees the digging of a tunnel 4.3 kilometers in length, the construction of three stations (at Votanikos, Aghios Savvas and Aegaleo), as well as a depot for trains and light maintenance cars at Aghios Savvas (of 85,000 square meters). Sepolia-Thivon: The first phase of the works includes digging a tunnel 2.8 kilometers long and the construction of a station at Aghios Antonios. In the second phase, the construction of Peristeri and Thivon stations. Dafni-Ilioupolis: This section entails the digging of a 1.2 -kilometer-long tunnel and the construction of Ilioupolis station.
