At first glance, Athens may seem stuck in a time warp, not moving toward a new urban culture. However, if you look closely at some neighborhoods in the city, you’ll see vestiges of a new trend in housing. This incorporates a comprehensive approach that begins with the facade and extends to furnishings and the organization of interior space. It is also apparent in a purer aesthetic that is simple and functional. «The materials and the furniture in the home are divesting themselves of pointless decoration, and more emphasis is being placed on simplicity of form, durability and colors that can hold their own under the bright sunlight,» says architect Yiannis Aisopos.
