Cars pass next to an open manhole gushing water in Athens yesterday during the heavy rainfall that deluged the city throughout the day. Among the commuters caught in traffic delays was the Turkish national soccer team, which arrived in Athens yesterday for their European Championship qualifier clash against Greece tomorrow. According to press reports, the team bus took almost three hours to reach the hotel in a journey from the airport that normally would have taken less than an hour.
