Shoppers walk through the Kapani market in Thessaloniki yesterday. Health and hygiene inspectors around Greece have stepped up checks on meat and fish in the buildup to Easter. The Piraeus Prefecture authorities said yesterday they had seized 2.5 tons of lamb and goat meat in Drapetsona because it was being transported under unhealthy conditions. Inspectors said the meat was confiscated because it was being moved from a refrigerated truck to another truck in the open air instead of a controlled environment.
