‘Childish’ Iraklion bombs destroyed
Two homemade explosive devices that were located and destroyed outside a laborers’ center in Iraklion, Crete, yesterday are unlikely to be related to any domestic terrorist groups, authorities said. The two bombs were found after an anonymous caller contacted an Athens television station and warned of the explosion. A note claiming responsibility was found nearby which made reference to the poor management of the center, used by unions for meetings and training. Police believe the incident is related to differences regarding the running of the center and described the incident as «childish.» Bomb experts said that had the explosion devices gone off, they would have caused minimal damage since old parts had been used to make the bombs.
