Development Minister Dimitris Sioufas (left) met with the head of Russian energy giant Gazprom Alexei Miller in Athens yesterday. The two sides agreed to negotiate a 24-year extension of their current contract for the supply of Russian natural gas to Greece. The deal, expected to be completed by the end of the year, will see the present arrangement being extended to 2040.
