An elderly woman lost…

An elderly woman lost in thought yesterday during a memorial service in Thessaloniki for some 50,000 Jews who were transported from the northern port city during World War Two and exterminated in Nazi death camps. Of Thessaloniki’s thriving Jewish community before the war, only 2 percent is estimated to have survived the Nazi Holocaust.
