A documentary against genocide
«Screamers» is a prize-winning documentary by BBC journalist Carla Garapedian, featuring the late Hrant Dink’s last appearance on film. Starting with the genocide of the Armenians and continuing with the contemporary history of genocide, Garapedian uses the multi-platinum-winning Armenian-American band System of a Down to create a dark manifesto on the violated dignity of humanity. «There is no flag wide enough to hide the shame for the people in the coffins,» sing System in a whisper as the numerical figures scroll past on the screen: Armenians: 1.5 million dead; Pontic Greeks: 350,000; Holocaust: 6 million; Cambodia: 2 million; Rwanda: 800,000; Bosnia: 200,000; Darfur: 40,000, and the shame goes on.
