Some facts and figures

The district of Kypseli is bounded on the west by busy Patission Avenue, on the north and northeast by Galatsi and the old Alepotrypa quarry, and on the east and southeast by the Attiko Park. According to the last census, there were 147,000 residents in Athens’s 6th municipal department, of which Kypseli forms the greater part, yet municipal authorities put the figure closer to 300,000 or even 400,000, all of whom live within an area measuring just over 400 hectares – the most densely populated part of Greece. * The school pupil population numbers 5,598 from kindergarten to senior high. * The ratio of green space per person is just 2 square meters. * In 2006 there were 1,123 thefts and burglaries, up from 721 in 2005. * It takes up to 45 minutes to find a parking spot.
