KKE leader’s guard robbed

A service revolver belonging to the bodyguard of Communist Party (KKE) leader Aleka Papariga was stolen yesterday morning after the guard left the weapon in a bag on the passenger seat of his car. According to police, the guard had taken the party vehicle to a garage in Nea Halkidona, western Athens, to repair a flat tire. It was there that thieves removed the bag containing the gun from the passenger seat where the window had been left open. The thieves fled on a motorcycle. The last time a guard was disarmed was in April when two armed assailants seized a semi-automatic shotgun and a service revolver from a police guard outside the home of Supreme Court President Romilos Kedikoglou in Glyfada. The Revolutionary Struggle group later claimed responsibility for the theft, in which the guard was not injured.
