Members of Greece’s Presidential Guard, wearing the traditional ‘evzones’ uniform, visited Archbishop Demetrios, the head of the Greek Orthodox Church in America (c), on Monday. The soldiers were part of an official Greek delegation that attended Greek National Day commemorations in New York City on Sunday, where thousands of Greek Americans marched down Fifth Avenue. Greece’s Independence Day is on March 25 and is commemorated at a later date in New York.
