Survivors of a ship sinking in the Aegean…

Survivors of a ship sinking in the Aegean get some food and drink before being examined at the medical center on the island of Naxos yesterday. Navy ships and coast guard vessels picked up 31 illegal immigrants after a 20-meter wooden fishing boat, the Badirma, sank off the island, officials said. The boat, which was believed to be Turkish, was carrying an estimated 30-40 illegal immigrants when it took in water and began to sink 4 nautical miles north of the island. The Merchant Marine Ministry said last night that two bodies had been found, revising the death toll from seven. The identities of the migrants were not immediately clear.
