A tourist sleeps on her bag while waiting for her ferry connection at the port of Piraeus yesterday. Passenger ferries connecting Piraeus, Rafina and Lavrion to hundreds of islands have made more than 23,760 trips since the beginning of the tourist season, according to Merchant Marine Ministry figures made public yesterday. Some 5.8 million passengers have traveled to the islands during that time. Authorities expect more than 16.5 million visitors this year, a 10 percent increase from 2006.
