Granny kept family drug business running

A 75-year-old woman, whose son has been jailed for trading in narcotics, was arrested in Alimos, southern Athens, accused on continuing her son’s business of selling cannabis, police said yesterday. After acting on a tip-off, police found in the unnamed woman’s home 750 grams of cannabis, electronic scales and 750 euros believed to be derived from selling drugs. She is reported to have traded large quantities of cannabis to people within a wide radius of her home, a police source said without giving further details. Two men, aged 45 and 31, were also arrested, believed to have been present making a deal to buy cannabis from the suspect, police added. Her son is currently serving a jail sentence for possessing and trading more than 5 kilos of cannabis.
