Travelers at the port…

Travelers at the port of Piraeus line up to board one of the many ferries leaving the capital yesterday. Industry sources said that ferries departing for the Aegean islands are 95 percent booked and also reported significantly higher passenger levels at Athens International Airport. Police said there will be stricter supervision of the country’s national highways over the holiday period, with a police helicopter also keeping an eye on traffic below. The last of the vacationers are expected to leave Athens over the next few days ahead of Wednesday’s public holiday to mark the Dormition of the Virgin.
