No more changes to test results

The results of university entrance exams will not change again despite threats by some senior high school students to launch lawsuits, the Education Ministry said yesterday. «These are the correct results of the entrance exams,» the ministry’s general secretary, Andreas Karamanos, told Kathimerini. Revised results were reissued on Friday after a mix-up. That means that 155 high school students will not be able to attend the university or technical college (TEI) that was top of their list. «It was like winning the lottery and then being told a mistake had been made,» Dimitris Constantinidis, a student from Veria, northern Greece, told Kathimerini. The 23-year-old had been trying for four years to gain a place at a police academy but has instead been admitted to a TEI in Florina to study crop science. However, the government said it will not bow to pressure from families affected by the mix-up. «The ministry has accepted that a mistake, for which it was not responsible, was made and we corrected it,» said Karamanos.
