Wax figures draw crowds in Thessaloniki
Wax figures of three late Greek statesmen, on show at the Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF), proved to be a success with visitors as hundreds of people took the opportunity to be photographed with the historical leaders. The wax figures of Greek statesmen Constantine Karamanlis (the current premier’s uncle), Andreas Papandreou and Eleftherios Venizelos have been put on display at the Tourism Ministry’s stand at the fair grounds. It is the first time the wax figures have been removed from Madame Tussauds in London since being introduced to the world-famous museum in November 2006. Security measures were upped for the display, while additional measures were taken to keep the display area’s temperature below 21 degrees Celsius (70F).
