One dead, cemetery burned in Kalamaria
A man died in a house fire in the Kalamaria district of Thessaloniki late on Saturday just hours after vandals had set fire to a building at the neighborhood cemetery, authorities said yesterday. The two incidents are not being linked but it was not immediately clear what caused the fire at the house. Police have not ruled out the possibility of arson. The body of a Bulgarian national was found on the premises. No further details were made public. The attack on Kalamaria Cemetery took place early on Saturday morning and led to the body of an elderly woman, which had been prepared for burial, being burned. The assailants also set alight a hearse parked nearby. Officers said there was no apparent motive for the attack.
