Drugs feared in teen death

The death of a 14-year-old girl in Ptolemaida, northern Greece, on Sunday, is being linked to her cocaine habit, prompting authorities to label her as the youngest person to die from drug usage in western Macedonia. Police said the teenager was taken to a local hospital by her mother on Sunday afternoon when she was found in her room in a comatose state. Doctors attempted to revive the girl but she died shortly afterward. Two of the girl’s friends told police they saw the 14-year-old on Sunday morning with a 32-year-old man who is believed to have been supplying her with cocaine. The man has been detained and is being questioned by police in connection with the death. According to local authorities, a further five people have died from drugs in the Kozani region in the last two years, while around 300 have been arrested on drug-related charges.
