Road collision kills 2 families

Two couples and their two small children were killed early yesterday when the car in which they were traveling collided with a truck on one of the country’s most dangerous stretches of road, near Corinth. The four adults, a 1-year-old boy and a 5-year-old girl were killed instantly when their car veered and hit an oncoming truck near the Kiato junction of the Corinth-Patras national highway – a dangerous stretch where 10 people have died in the past 10 days. The force of the impact split the car into two pieces, one of which spun off and hit an oncoming truck. Neither of the truck drivers was injured. Police said the accident was probably caused by a slippery road surface. Also yesterday a 4-year-old boy was killed after being hit by a bus in Thessaloniki. The boy had been waiting at a bus stop with his grandmother when he ran out into the road, police said. The bus driver was not detained.
