Marcos Baghdatis returns the ball to Russia’s Marat Safin during their second-round match yesterday at the Australian Open in Melbourne. The 15-seeded Baghdatis beat the former No 1 Safin 6-4, 6-4, 2-6, 3-6, 6-2, evoking memories of his run to the 2006 final. He has now set up a third-round meeting with another former No 1, Lleyton Hewitt.
