Bill Gates to visit Athens

Microsoft’s Chairman Bill Gates is to be in Athens for a few hours on January 29 to open Microsoft’s Innovation Center, one of the offset benefits provided for in the agreement in addition to the discounts. Among other things, they include a portal for obtaining technical know-how and the possibility of funding from EU programs for small and medium-sized businesses, setting up 10 technology training centers and the provision of technical know-how to the Greek government on issues of electronic governance. Critics of the contract, however, say that these are simply aimed at creating an even greater dependency on Microsoft.
