A dwelling with a history to become a museum
History: A rare example of an Athenian house with a loggia. The core of the Benizelos residence is probably 16th century and the two-story house with the loggia from the 18th. The Blessed Filothei (1522-1589) was a member of the family that owned it. Appropriated by the Culture Ministry, it now belongs to the Archbishopric, which is having it renovated by architect Yiannis Kizis. Condition: Bad. The wooden frame and the roof have rotted in parts, while the eaves, as well as door and window frames have been destroyed. Future: A historical house will become a museum, with EU funding.
