Apart from having won the Greek championship, PAOK is the only major men’s soccer club to have a female team. Giorgos Prousalis, head of the women’s team, explained that PAOK’s policy is to have a section for every sport even though it is difficult to maintain the amateur teams. Unlike most people, Prousalis is optimistic: «Women’s football has a future and is progressing fast in Europe. We are lagging behind here but I’m optimistic; women compete in every other sport and are likely to do so in football too,» he said. The PAOK women’s team is ambitious and organized. The players are almost all students and the academy has almost 40 members.
