Monday Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis to meet with Archbishop of Albania Anastassios in Athens at 10 a.m. Foreign Minister Dora Bakoyannis to attend informal EU-Arab League ministerial meeting in Malta. Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis to have talks with Development Minister Christos Folias at 11.30 a.m. Parliament Speaker Dimitris Sioufas to be awarded by Russian Ambassador Andrey Vdovin during a special ceremony at 11 a.m. at the Russian Embassy. Interior Minister Prokopis Pavlopoulos is on a two-day visit to Egypt. Today he will meet with his Egyptian counterpart Habib El-Adly. The City of Athens and supermarket chain representatives will sign a memorandum of cooperation concerning the replacement of plastic bags at supermarkets with environmentally friendly bags. The Panhellenic Railway Workers’ Federation (POS) is to stage three three-hour work stoppages today and tomorrow, the first from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m., the second from noon to 3 p.m. and the last from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Protesters oppose the government’s restructuring plans for OSE. Tuesday Foreign Minister Dora Bakoyannis begins a visit to the USA. She is to meet with US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and will hold talks with National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley and the Deputy Secretary of Defense Gordon England. Wednesday The General Confederation of Greek Labor (GSEE) and the Civil Servants’ Union (ADEDY) stage a 24-hour strike opposing social security reforms. Several marches will take place in Athens and other cities across the country. Journalists, lawyers, state hospital doctors and bank employees will also strike. Protesters will demonstrate at 11 a.m. at the Pedion tou Areos. Deputy Foreign Minister Yiannis Valinakis to attend EU-Black Sea foreign ministers’ meeting in Kiev. Doctors without Borders holds a press conference on «Access to Essential Medicines,» at 5.30 p.m. at the organization’s offices in Mavili Sq. Thursday The Association for the Modernization of Society (OPEK) holds a conference on «Thoughts for a Progressive Society,» at 7 p.m. in the National Bank of Greece’s Theodoros Karatzas Amphitheater. Former Prime Minister Costas Simitis will be the keynote speaker. Friday The Technical College of Athens holds an international one-day meeting on the «Monitoring and Protection of Metal Museum Collections,» at 11 a.m. at the Benaki Museum.
