Ministry hit by a minor blast

A small homemade bomb exploded outside an Environment and Public Works Ministry building in Ambelokipi, central Athens, yesterday, causing minor damage but no injuries. No one had claimed responsibility for the attack late yesterday. Authorities said the device slightly damaged the front of the ministry building on Amaliados Street at around 5 p.m. Police had cordoned off the area shortly before the explosion took place after an anonymous call was made to a newspaper preceding the attack. Anti-terrorism experts were participating in on-site investigation, sifting through debris for clues, authorities added. In a separate incident late on Friday, an explosive device went off at the holiday home of Greek tabloid editor Giorgos Kouris outside Athens, causing minor damage but no injuries.
