Three-generation drug team caught by police

Police in Thessaloniki said yesterday they had arrested three women – a grandmother, her daughter and granddaughter – after finding them in possession of about 40 grams of heroin. The three generations of alleged drug dealers, aged 68, 32 and 20, were detained in the Dendropotamos area after a raid on the grandmother’s house. Police also confiscated about 10,000 euros in cash and bankbooks showing deposits of nearly 23,000 euros, believed to have been earned from drug-trafficking activities. The women often received jewelry items from their customers when they couldn’t pay by cash, a police source said. Among the items allegedly taken in exchange for heroin by the women was an antique icon, which should have been declared to the authorities, according to Greek law.
