Child murder suspect claims to ‘save souls’

Police investigating the murder of an 11-year-old girl in a metalworker’s store near her home in the northwestern town of Ioannina on Tuesday are looking into possible links between her alleged killer, Christos Kolovos, and satanic cults. Kolovos, who was charged with murder yesterday, told police he had to kill a child aged 9-14 in order to save other souls. He hinted that he had committed another seven human sacrifices. Detectives are searching his farm near Arta for bodies. The body of Maria Daskalou was found on Wednesday hidden in Kolovos’s store, where she and other children used to go to play with Kolovos’s dog. She had been strangled, but the coroner said she had not been raped. Neighbors said Kolovos, whom they described as «anti-social,» had been preparing to marry a Bulgarian woman in the next few days.
