Two dead in chases involving traffickers
Police were yesterday searching for two migrant traffickers, who, in a fatal hit-and-run, killed a 15-year-old boy in Alexandroupolis, northeastern Greece, in their attempt to escape the attention of police officers. The policemen late on Monday night had been chasing two cars, one of which was carrying six suspected illegal immigrants, when one of the vehicles drove through a crossroad and struck the 15-year-old on his scooter. The vehicle crashed into some parked cars later on and the two smugglers escaped on foot. The six migrants in the first car and the two suspected smugglers in the other car, who were acting as lookouts, were arrested. Meanwhile, one migrant was killed and another five injured near Xanthi when the car in which they were being transported crashed after being chased for some 10 kilometers by police.
