The research team firmly believes that Mobile Locative Media (MLM), such as the Locunet system, will become an innovative new means of communication. Unlike previous media, such as the Internet, television and radio, however, this medium is linked with geographical space, the physical and the virtual environment as seen on the screen of a device. Research so far indicates that users tend to create new connections between the physical environments and the activities carried out in them. The ability of MLM to link data with a specific geographical location adds a new dimension to interpersonal communication in the real environment of the city. Since Mobile Locative Media can hook up with each other via GPs or through other applications, it may not be too long before cyberspace moves into physical space, where geographical data will encounter communication and everyday activity in a semantic web, laying the foundations for Internet 3.0.
