Bioclimatic houses
Children can play soccer and cycle safely in the bioclimatic home district, which retains the liveliness of the old neighborhood. The 120 solar-heated houses, built in 1994 on the eastern side of Kalamata and funded by a European Union program, conform to the principles of bioclimatic architecture. They are designed to provide good insulation, flow-through ventilation, natural cooling in summer, and, of course, conserve energy.
