Father strangles his handicapped baby
An Albanian national has been charged with manslaughter after allegedly strangling his seven-month-old son in a drunken rage. The incident occurred yesterday morning after the suspect argued with his wife, who left the apartment and went to visit a relative. The man is then alleged to have vented his anger on the child, who had physical disabilities. After seeing the child motionless, the suspect said he panicked and rushed next door to get his brother. When they returned to the apartment they saw the child was dead, according to the testimony of the suspect who subsequently turned himself in. Neighbors told police that the suspect had been drinking heavily due to depression over financial difficulties and his son’s ailments. He is alleged to have regularly beaten his wife.
