Tourism on the seafront
A number of hotels on the Navarinou seashore have been renovated, as have many neoclassical buildings. The waste management plant seems to be functioning well, and the sea has remained clean for swimmers. On the western side of the main port (which was once so prosperous it drew the market right to the quayside), a modern marina with mooring space for 250 boats has become an attraction for visitors and locals.
