36 degrees Celsius (97 Fahrenheit)…
A student attending a protest rally in central Athens yesterday takes a long gulp from her bottle of water as temperatures reached 36 Celsius (97 Fahrenheit), way above the seasonal average. This week’s heat wave peaked on Wednesday when temperatures reached 38C (100.4F) in the central town of Larissa. The weather started cooling yesterday evening and is expected to change considerably over the next few days, with conditions becoming more typical for the season, with stronger northerly winds and some rain. Earlier this week experts told a conference on climate change that the average temperature in Greece will rise by up to 3 degrees Celsius over the next 25 years.
