France’s Sebastien Loeb…

France’s Sebastien Loeb and his co-driver Daniel Elena airborne in a Citroen C4 during the special stage of Schimatari, about 65 kilometers north of Athens during the Acropolis Rally yesterday. Loeb, the defending world champion, dominated the first day, taking four of the seven stages. He ended 15.7 seconds ahead of fellow Citroen driver Dani Sordo of Spain and 59.1 seconds in front of Subaru driver Petter Solberg of Norway. Championship leader Mikko Hirvonen was seventh after broken suspension cost him 50 seconds and three places in the day’s rankings. The grueling Greek rally ends tomorrow.
