New collision suggests ships may be all at sea

In the latest of a series of accidents involving passenger ferries, a cruise ship carrying 955 vacationers collided yesterday with a ferry in the port of Piraeus as people were embarking for Chios and Lesvos. Nobody was injured and the vessels only suffered minor damage when the Crystal cruise ship rammed into the Lissos ferry in the port. Both ships departed after safety inspections but the accident comes on the back of several incidents at sea, including a ferry that hit a reef off Kythera last month and another which struck a reef near Oinousses in June. Meanwhile, a passenger was injured while traveling on a hydrofoil between Folegandros and Piraeus yesterday when a wave smashed a window on the vessel. The Flying Cat 3, owned by Hellenic Seaways, had to dock at Serifos as the 268 passengers waited for the window to be repaired.
