Volunteers help to extinguish 33 blazes

A volunteer firefighter helps put out a blaze in the area of Aghios Ilias in Aitoloacarnania, central Greece, yesterday. The help of water-bombing aircraft and local volunteers was needed to bring the fire under control. Two fires were reported yesterday afternoon on the island of Evia in the areas of Stropones and Mourtia. Firefighters said that they had the blazes under control by 9 p.m. There were a total of 33 wildfires burning around the country.
