Series of rolling metro stoppages starts today
Athens metro services will be severely disrupted as of today for almost two weeks, due to work stoppages by employees who are angry that their collective contract has not been signed. The action means there will be no service between noon and 4 p.m. today. Tomorrow, as well as next Friday and Saturday, there will be no trains on lines 2 and 3 after midnight, meaning that the extended weekend timetable brought in earlier this year will not be in effect. On Monday, October 20, there will be no trains before 9 a.m. It will be the same on Tuesday, when there will also be no service after 9 p.m. On Wednesday, the stoppage will be from noon to 4 p.m. The metro employees also attacked the Transport Ministry earlier this week, claiming they are being dealt with in «an arrogant and demeaning» manner.
