Athens Plus wins award

Athens Plus, the 48-page weekly newspaper published by Kathimerini and the International Herald Tribune, has won the award for Europe’s Best Designed Newspaper, it was announced on Sunday. A total of 236 newspapers from 27 countries participated in the 10th European Newspaper Award, which is organized by German newspaper designer Norbert Kuepper. The jury was made up of 10 journalists, scientists and designers from nine countries. Part of the jury statement about Athens Plus read: «Elaborately researched columns, such as ’20+ events in 7 days’ or a page with event tips for all the family, called ‘Family Fun,’ go part and parcel with the basics of this service-oriented newspaper.» The other winners of this year’s awards include Sweden’s daily Svenska Dagbladet, which was voted Europe’s Best Designed National Newspaper.
