Leaving town for a better life in the country

While some conscripts enlist the help of people in high places to avoid serving in border areas, other Greeks move voluntarily to remote villages or to distant islands. They leave for different reasons: better quality of life, closer relationships, more free time, lower cost of living and love. They have difficulties too, including lack of healthcare, poor public transport, fewer job opportunities and isolation. Four of them talked to Kathimerini about their decision to move.
