AEK defeated, Reds march on

Olympiakos disposed of rival AEK 1-0 yesterday as the Piraeus club continued its seemingly unstoppable march to yet another league title. Although host AEK had plenty of chances, it was unable to capitalize and salvage at least a point from the game at the Olympic Stadium after going behind to a fifth minute goal from Luciano Galletti. The win moves Olympiakos to 51 points from 20 games. PAOK is still the only side that can challenge the reigning champion. The Thessaloniki club beat Ergotelis 2-0 at home to remain nine points behind the leader. Panathinaikos strengthened its grip on third place with a 2-1 win at Levadiakos, which suffered its first home defeat of the season. Thrasyvoulos sunk to the bottom of the table after being beaten 1-0 by fellow struggler Panserraikos. OFI also remains in trouble after former Bolton midfielder Stelios Giannakopoulos scored twice on Crete to give his new side Larissa a 2-1 win. In the other games, it was Iraklis 0 Aris 1, Panionios 3 Panthrakikos 0 and Xanthi 0 Asteras Tripolis 0.
