The Cypriot-flagged container ship Monchegorsk is seen anchored off Limassol yesterday after being searched by local authorities following suspicions that it was ferrying arms from Iran to the militant Palestinian organization Hamas. Cypriot Foreign Minister Markos Kyprianou said yesterday that local authorities had searched the vessel but refused to reveal what they had discovered on board. It is believed that the Cypriot government has contacted the United Nations in a bid to find out if any resolutions have been contravened and what actions Nicosia should take next.
