Second spot race heats up
Olympiakos opened up a 14-point gap at the top of the Super League over the weekend, as PAOK caught up with Panathinaikos in second place. The Reds beat Aris 2-1 at home on Saturday to maintain their seemingly unstoppable run toward the title. Predrag Djordjevic and Luciano Galletti scored in each half before Vassilis Torosidis scored an own goal. Also playing on Saturday, PAOK won 3-0 at Levadiakos to move on to 43 points, the same as Panathinaikos who was held to a 0-0 draw by Iraklis in Thessaloniki yesterday. AEK, in fourth, needed an injury-time goal from teenager Panayiotis Tachtsidis to beat lowly Thrasyvoulos Fylis. Larissa moved into fifth after Stelios Giannakopoulos scored his third goal in four games since returning from the Premier League for a 1-0 win at Panthrakikos. In the other games, it was Panionios 0 Ergotelis 0, OFI 1 Asteras Tripolis 1 and Panserraikos 1 Xanthi 0.
