A marble plaque…
A marble plaque commemorating Alexis Grigoropoulos, who was shot dead by a policeman on December 6, is secured on the wall of a street corner, amid notes from well-wishers, in the central Athens district of Exarchia where the 15-year-old died. Special guard Epaminondas Korkoneas claims to have shot the teenager by accident after firing into the air as a warning but a ballistics report suggests that the bullet he fired struck a round concrete post before hitting Grigoropoulos. The inscription on the plaque blames the teenager’s death on ‘the bullets of unrepentant murderers.’
