The main party leaders hit the campaign trail
Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis (l) waves to supporters at a rally in the western town of Arta yesterday. In an impassioned speech, upping the ante ahead of Euro Parliament elections on June 7, the premier said he would press ahead with reforms, ignoring ‘irresponsible’ opposition criticism. Meanwhile PASOK leader George Papandreou (r) launched a diatribe against the government from Patras. He accused the government of failing to work with the EU to handle a growing influx of migrants, many of whom end up in the western port.
