Robbers smash open window of opportunity
Armed robbers made off yesterday with an unspecified amount of cash from a newspaper distribution agency in Aegaleo, western Athens, after startling employees when they smashed through a first-floor window. Police said that five suspects in total parked outside the building. Three climbed a ladder they had brought with them and burst through the window of the accounting department, where the money was kept. The robbers fired into the air several times and forced the three employees to hand over any cash available. While fleeing, the robbers also struck a passerby who attempted to stop them. Although the amount stolen was not immediately known, police said that it is likely to be quite large as an armored vehicle had dropped off some cash 10 minutes before the robbery.
