This van will tour Greece to promote women’s participation in the forthcoming October local elections, as part of an Interior Ministry campaign launched yesterday. In accordance with recent legislation championed by Interior Minister Vasso Papandreou, at least 30 percent of candidates must be female, but many rural regions are reportedly having trouble meeting this quota.
