Twenty held in child porn rap

Twenty people, including a 56-year-old Briton, were detained yesterday as suspected members of a ring trading child pornography on the Internet. The suspects, aged 20 to 56, include a secondary school teacher, a school bus driver and a navy officer. They were traced to various Greek cities over the past three months as part of a nationwide police probe, code-named Spider’s Web and carried out by the force’s electronic crime units in Athens and Thessaloniki. Officers who seized dozens of computer hard drives and DVDs containing pornographic images of children said they are seeking another 19 suspects. Police were alerted to the racket by their counterparts in Germany, who traced dozens of Greek users sharing files containing pornographic images online. A Greek officer told Kathimerini that police were also investigating the possibility that some of the images and videos were produced in Greece.
